She’s got the brains, he’s got the muscle
When Kelly Bridge’s parents insist on employing a bodyguard for her protection, she’s not happy. Okay, so maybe not every woman is on the cusp of developing a vaccine against a potential biological terrorist attack – but crikey, it’s not like she’s a celebrity!
Ben Jacobs flunked spectacularly out of school, so he knows his new client Dr Kelly Bridge spells trouble for him. But on a conference trip to Rome he finds things are worse than he thought. Not only is he falling for the brilliant scientist, he’s also become horribly aware she’s in grave danger. As they go on the run, dodging bullets and kidnappers, can he resist his feelings and keep her safe?
Review Crikey a bodyguard by Fany Van Hemelen:
What is this a delightful and funny romance!
Kelly is a scientist and when her life could be in danger her parents hire her a bodyguard. First, she is not so happy, but Ben is a hunk and that’s even more uncomfortable than she would expect. Soon they got in big trouble and after Rome Ben is still guarding her.
Ben, thirty-six, is an example for some people to think about him just as an ex-soldier with big muscles and no brains. School was not his favourite and his work is always focused on action. As long as he knows he was at the battlefield, but a bullet in his shoulder was the reason he had to live his escadron. Now he is working as a protector at the Panther organisation. Normally he has to “babysit” celebrities or other important people.
Kelly is a twenty-nine year old hot developer of a new vaccine against biological weapons.
She is a premium student with no social live. Kelly is a bit uncertain of herself as a woman and doesn’t think saving the world is such a big deal because her work is her passion.
The scenes in this exciting story we’re hilarious and it is a fantastic escape from reality. Of course the question is of Kelly and Ben can ignore their feelings and attraction when they stay together so close. I loved this romance because the opposite characters, the witty dialogues and a bit of action make this book a pleasure to read. Don’t expect a complex novel, that’s not the style of this narration, but if you want to dream away than this is your book!
A former pharmacist, I’m now a medical writer who also writes romance. Some days a racing heart is a medical condition, others it’s the reaction to a hunky hero.
With two teenage boys and a husband who asks every Valentine’s Day whether he has to buy a card (yes, he does), any romance is all in my head. Then again, his unstinting support of my career change proves love isn’t always about hearts and flowers – and heroes come in many disguises.
